Launch: Winq

Stream Publishing has unveiled the new UK edition of Winq, the luxury lifestyle magazine for gay men.

Beautiful, intelligent and articulate, Winq delights in a premium print and production specification and a range of content and contributors to match, says Stream Publishing.

Cover priced at £4.95, the March/April edition, on sale from 20th February, features exclusive interviews Boy George, resurgent with an album described as “the comeback of the year” ahead of a European tour, and also with Jared Leto, widely-tipped for Oscar success on account of the Dallas Buyers Club. TV chef Yotam Ottolenghi talks marriage and gay fatherhood, while the perennially Speedo-clad Olympic diver Chris Mears models a range of this summer’s swimwear.

Contributors include Kylie-stylist William Baker, who shot the lead 12-page ‘Class of 2014’ spread for Winq’s Fashion Director, X Factor’s lead stylist Frank Strachan. Soldier-turned-author James Wharton is a columnist, while Pink News’ Benjamin Cohen provides political input. Colin Crummy (ex-Esquire) is Culture Editor and photo journalist Markus Bidaux is Travel Editor.

The new UK edition of Winq supplants the International Edition previously published out of Amsterdam, and so inherits an established sales network in 32 countries to add to an enhanced UK news-trade presence in WHSmith, Martin McColl and other retailers.

Says Darren Styles, Stream Publishing Managing Director and Winq Publishing Editor: “Our Dutch colleagues established, as far back as 2005, a magazine that grew an enviable reputation for its sophisticated blend of style, wit and intelligence. Now here it is, Made in England. This is a different kind of gay magazine for a community that’s increasingly developed, fast-maturing and at ease with itself. It’s more than time for a sector flagship publication that gathers together people, politics, current affairs, style, travel, culture and health into a relevant whole and speaks to a key demographic.

“I believe Winq fulfils that role, and then some. Our content delivers that, our first-rate editorial team delivers that and even our advertisers have delivered that. Many have come to the sector anew, given an environment that better reflects their brands and products. Winq is a brilliant addition to our stable of titles.”

The first edition of Winq is distributed through the UK and to 32 countries internationally by COMAG. A digital edition is available to download from the App Store and on Android.
