LCC launch app for iPhone and iPad

The official app for London College of Communication (LCC) has launched, providing mobile access to courses, news, events, picture galleries, social networks and more.

Aimed at future and current students, the app is available to download free via the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad users.

The app claims to go beyond those developed by many higher education institutions to enable future students access to 360 degree imagery of some of the College’s key locations and facilities, as well as linking up to the LCC’s events calendar, blog and Twitter feeds for live updates.

Designed by LCC FdA Design for Graphic Communication graduate Luca Paulina and developed as part of a student competition, the app is the result of a cross-college partnership utilising design, media and technical expertise within the College. Development of the app has been provided by ‘hedgehog lab’ who specialise in developing software for mobiles.

Features of the ‘LCC’ app include:

Courses – Search available courses by level and subject and bookmark your favourites.

News – Read the latest news and features from the LCC newsroom.

Events – Check out the official LCC calendar for events, exhibitions and more.

Discover  – 360 degree imagery of some of the College’s key locations and facilities.

Social Media – Connect with LCC’s buzzing Twitter account.

Professor Sandra Kemp, LCC Head of College, says: “The app has been created to raise the public profile of the College. It has been designed in a way that makes user interaction with the College more personalised, social and accessible. The challenge was to capture the huge range of student activity at LCC and the visual approach to this sets it apart from other apps currently on the market. We hope this is just the start; we want to add more content to it in the future and extend it to other platforms.”

David Sims, Project Initiator and Principal Lecturer in the Faculty of Design, says: “Developing an app for the iPhone and iPad has been an amazing opportunity for all concerned and a great advertisement for our future facing courses.”
