This is an agreement that increases the LexisNexis volume of UK and Irish newspapers by almost 50%, says LexisNexis.
Bob De Laney, LexisNexis Director of News & Business, said: “Since 2008, LexisNexis has significantly increased the breadth and depth of its UK and Irish regional newspaper coverage by adding over 345 titles from Aberdeen Journals, MGN, Newsquest, Kent Messenger, Northcliffe and Johnston Press and now covers 458 national and regional newspapers in total."
“It is usually these smaller, local press outlets that carry vital intelligence on regional companies as the national press will not have a lot of coverage on, for example, a privately held, £5M turnover company or local bank/accountancy, which a local paper would. These sources also provide updates on transactions, redundancies, executive moves and M&A that traditional company information providers might miss, which makes this an important resource for business development and competitor insight teams."
“We are continuing to develop the content to ensure we deliver the broadest and most comprehensive service to our Nexis users and this year we will add many more titles from Johnston, Northcliffe and Illiffe, which will bring our total UK and Irish newspaper coverage to over 500 titles.”
Johnston Press plc is one of the three largest local newspaper publishers in the UK. Johnston Press titles cover communities from Peterhead in Scotland to Portsmouth in Hampshire, including Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Andy Prior, Johnston Press Digital Product Manager, said: “Johnston Press is pleased to be working with LexisNexis to enable its editorial content to be made available to as wide an audience as possible. Our 320 titles – which range in size from the Scotsman to much smaller weekly publications – already provide unrivalled coverage in their respective communities, so we know there is a need and audience for this information.”
