MacFormat celebrates 20th anniversary

MacFormat is celebrating its 20th anniversary and has reproduced its very first issue in digital format to mark the occasion.

First launched in 1993, says Future Publishing, MacFormat offers practical, authoritative and passionate Mac advice. It is dedicated to covering everything Apple does, including the Mac, iPad and iPhone.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the magazine contains a complete guide to photography on the Mac, together with tutorials including how to offload the iTunes library to a networked external drive and how to create a teleprompter with an iPad. Elsewhere, the issue offers a round-up of six of the best interchangeable lens cameras, reviews of the Cambridge Audio Minx Air 100 lossless Bluetooth and AirPlay dock, plus a critical look at Adobe's Photoshop Touch iOS software.

In addition, MacFormat has reproduced its very first issue in digital format which is available for readers to download for free from Apple’s Newsstand. Whilst famous Apple designer, Susan Kare – who created many of the interface elements for the Apple Macintosh in the 1980s – has created an exclusive MacFormat 20th anniversary logo.

Graham Barlow, MacFormat’s Editor-In-Chief, says: “It feels great to have reached this milestone. We're proud that MacFormat has been there for an entire generation of Mac users. It’s a great thrill to have a special icon designed by legendary Mac icon designer Susan Kare to help us celebrate MacFormat’s 20th anniversary. Looking back at issue 1 of MacFormat it’s amazing to see how the Mac, and Apple, has changed over the years. MacFormat first hit the newsstands 20 years ago today, and now our fully interactive digital edition is available on Apple’s Newsstand and looking better than ever.”

The 20th anniversary issue of MacFormat is on-sale today and the first edition is available for free here - macformat.com/ipad.
