Marie Claire celebrates 25th birthday

Marie Claire, the premium fashion glossy is celebrating its 25th birthday by publishing a 430-page birthday issue, the biggest issue in the last seven years.

This special collectors’ magazine has seen its advertising volume increase by 8.7% compared to last year’s October issue, producing the highest advertising revenue issue in the last five years, says IPC Media.

Marie Claire’s 25th issue features a birthday portfolio showcasing British female icons from the last 25 years, featuring Vivienne Westwood, Joanna Lumley, Helen Fielding and Gillian Anderson alongside the next generation of British icons including Sheridan Smith, Laura Whitmore and Jodie Whittaker. Anniversary-themed content includes photos of previous Marie Claire editors reliving the magazine’s highlights, while fashion doyenne Elizabeth Walker recalls 25 years of fabulous fashion moments. Six columnists including Julie Burchill, Zoe Williams, Miranda Sawyer and Suzanne Moore celebrate 25 years of pioneering women, from presidents and powerhouses to rock stars and writers. The issue also includes an interview with cover-star Lena Dunham who debuts with her first cover on the UK newsstand.

The collectors’ issue also comes with a 28 page special section dedicated to iconic beauty products launched in the past 25 years. The section created in collaboration with House of Fraser, features a collection of beautiful still-life photographs and the department store will be supporting the activity with in-store events throughout the month including, reader evenings within the beauty halls of their Oxford Street and Glasgow branches.

Marie Claire’s 25th birthday issue is offering readers a free new Clinique repair wear laser focus worth £15 (UK newsstand copies only) and is on sale from 29th August.
