New editor appointed at Research Magazine

Research Magazine, the international magazine for the global market research business, has appointed Brian Tarran as its new editor.

In addition Robert Bain, currently features editor, becomes deputy editor and James Verrinder will work across the magazine and website as reporter.

Tarran (pictured), who joined Research in November 2002 as reporter, becoming news editor in 2006 commented: “This is an exciting time for the market research and customer insight industry – and for those of us reporting on it. Social media, mobile, behavioural economics and neuroscience have sparked a wave of new ideas, innovation and debate about the future of research and we will be the home of that debate – offering competing visions from the biggest names and the brightest thinkers in the industry.

“We have some big changes in the pipeline which I’ll blog about in due course. But my vision for Research is clear – like the companies we report on, we know that basic data delivery is no longer enough. The real value of Research lies in offering original insight, analysis and opinion that you can’t get anywhere else.”

Brian replaces Marc Brenner, who leaves the publication following a promotion to editorial and creative director at the Market Research Society with responsibility for printed, online and event content across the whole organisation.

Brenner, editor since 2003, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on Research and am proud of all that we have achieved. I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead and remaining close to this creative, resourceful and ever-changing industry. With Brian’s promotion I am very confident that Research will go from strength to strength. Brian is a high-profile and much respected figure in the research industry. He is the right man for the right job at the right time. Research couldn’t be in better hands.”
