Nial Ferguson appointed Managing Director, Future UK

On 20 December, Future, the international media group and leading digital business, announced the appointment of Nial Ferguson as Managing Director, Future UK.

Nial, formerly Managing Director of Future’s Technology, Film & Games Groups, takes on the expanded responsibility for the Sport, Music and Automotive divisions of Future’s UK business. This is the next stage of the re-organisation of the senior management structure, as the company continues its transition to a predominantly digital business.

Nial already leads Future’s Tech, Photography, Creative & Design, Film and Games portfolios, including internationally famous brands like T3, TechRadar, Total Film and CVG. This appointment sees him take on additional responsibility for the Sport, Music and Automotive portfolios, including Cyclingnews.com and MusicRadar.com. Jo Morrell continues to report into Future CEO Mark Wood as Managing Director, Future Women.

Mark says, “As our business changes at gathering speed, we need to adapt our UK management team and structure. Nial has done a superb job at leading and developing our Technology, Film and Games sectors. The Sport, Music and Auto divisions will now benefit from his direction as we accelerate Future’s digital transition.”

Nial joined Future from Emap (now Bauer) in March 2008 as Group Publisher for T3, and was appointed Managing Director Technology and Film & Games in July of this year.

Nial started his career at Emap in 1993, and was at the forefront of the company’s marketing activities across many of their leading men’s entertainment and lifestyle brands. He was Deputy Managing Director of Emap’s men’s lifestyle division and Head of Marketing for men’s lifestyle and entertainment.

Nial Ferguson says, “It’s an exciting time for Future as our multi-award winning company continues its rapid change from being a specialist print publisher to becoming the UK’s leading digital media company. Our competitor set has changed, our revenues have diversified and our portfolios are developing at a ridiculously fast pace. I am delighted to be able to work with even more of the talented business heads across Future UK as they transform how they work with their audiences and advertisers.”
