The News Media Association's legal, policy and regulatory affairs director Sayra Tekin said: “We wholeheartedly welcome the expansion of the successful family court transparency pilots to include magistrates' courts, widening the scope for journalists to report directly on family court proceedings across 19 areas nationwide.
"The NMA and its members have been fully committed to this crucial work to restore transparency to family court proceedings, reinforcing the vital principle of open justice which underpins public confidence.
"We look forward to collaborating further with media colleagues, court staff, and the judiciary to explore how these essential reforms can be extended across the Family Division.”
