NMA writes to Press Recognition Panel

The News Media Association released yesterday the text of the pre-action protocol for judicial review letter which it has served on the Press Recognition Panel.

This challenges the legality of the Press Recognition Panel’s decision to recognise Impress. It follows from legal advice received from the NMA’s Solicitors, RPC, and its Counsel, Lord Pannick QC and Iain Steele.

The NMA says that it has been advised that it has a powerful case that the Press Recognition Panel made serious and fundamental legal errors in its recognition of Impress.

These are summarised in the letter. The NMA now awaits a response from the Press Recognition Panel by 19 December.
