NME publishes Amy Winehouse tribute issue

NME celebrates the life of Amy Winehouse with a special tribute issue, remembering one of the most talented singers of her generation.

The issue features previously unseen pictures from the NME archive, Amy’s first ever NME interview on the brink of ‘Rehab’ being released, plus friends and famous fans – including The Clash’s Mick Jones, Russell Brand, Courtney Love and Elbow’s Guy Garvey – pay their respect to the talent whose life ended far too soon.

NME editor Krissi Murison says: “To paraphrase just one of the many musicians we spoke to while putting this tribute issue together: in a notoriously bitchy business like the music industry, we’ve never met anyone with anything except total respect for Amy Winehouse. That alone tells you just how special Amy was and how in awe of her all her peers were - even when she couldn’t see it herself. This issue is a celebration of all the things we should be remembering about Amy right now: the voice, the songs, the soul, the gale-force personality, the lyrics that made you wince with their raw emotion and the lyrics that made you blush with their honesty. She was the most talented British singer in a generation and one of its greatest icons. We miss her dearly.”
