Songlines celebrates 100th issue with golden ticket promotion

Songlines magazine is celebrating its 100th anniversary with its biggest ever issue and a golden ticket promotion.

According to distributors COMAG Specialist: Launched in 1999, Songlines covers the world's most exciting music from traditional and popular to contemporary and fusion, featuring artists from all around the globe. From Afghanistan to Zimbabwe and everywhere in between, from Miriam Makeba to Mariza, from Gilberto Gil to Gogol Bordello and everyone who is making their mark in international music.

Packed full of the latest news, CD reviews and artist interviews in every issue, Songlines has guides to particular global music traditions, travel adventures, city guides and frontline reports, as well as all the upcoming concert listings and festivals from around the world.

Every issue of Songlines carries a compilation CD called ‘Top of the World’, which has a selection of recently released tracks chosen by the editorial team as well as a guest playlist, which for the June issue has been put together by Ian Anderson of the band Jethro Tull.

The June issue of Songlines is the magazine’s 100th and to celebrate, this edition will be its biggest ever at a massive 132 pages, including an eight-page international festival guide.

In addition to this essential guide to the unmissable music events of 2014, the June issue of Songlines will announce the winners of this year’s Songlines Music Awards.

As part of the 100th edition celebrations, Songlines is running a ‘golden ticket’ promotion, with 100 tickets to the 2014 WOMAD festival being bagged with copies of the June issue.

On the cover and inside, the June issue of Songlines has Malian father and son duo Toumani and Sidiki Diabaté, talking about their first album together and summer UK tour.

Currently on a world tour, Songlines recently caught up with San Francisco string group the Kronos Quartet. Having celebrated 40 years together in 2013, the four-piece spoke to the title about their brand of contemporary classical music and what keeps them playing.
