Sue Crewe, Editor of House & Garden, to retire

Sue Crewe, Editor of House & Garden has decided to retire in October 2014, it was announced yesterday by Nicholas Coleridge, President of Condé Nast International and Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain.

“Sue told me more than a year ago that she was considering this drastic step, and despite my best efforts to retain her indefinitely, she has made up her mind,” commented Coleridge.

Sue has been at the helm of House & Garden for over twenty years, and during this time the magazine has set the standard and taste level, becoming the essential benchmark for high-end interior decoration and garden design, says Condé Nast. The two annual House & Garden Fairs – Spirit of Summer now in its fifth year, and Spirit of Christmas, reaching its twelfth year this year, were both launched during her tenure. The new House & Garden website, House was also launched this month.

Coleridge added, “Over the past two decades, Sue has produced a consistently beautiful, useful and admired magazine, which has managed to remain quintessentially English, while showcasing alluring homes from almost every part of the world. Sue herself has become a pivotal and revered figure in the world of design and decoration.”

A succession plan will be announced in due course.

House & Garden has an ABC of 120,008 (July to December 2013,) and is the pre-eminent quality magazine for design and decoration, say the publishers.
