Supersized Glamour debuts at newsstands

A publishing first for Glamour, the debut limited-edition large-format issue of Glamour hits newsstands on Monday 3rd February.

The March 2014 issue of Glamour has been supersized in the name of fashion, and showcases the Spring Summer 2014 collections.

Jo Elvin, Editor of British Glamour, comments; “Why have we done this? My answer to that is, why not?! It was quite simply for the fun of seeing it on the newsstand, and the pure pleasure of keeping the surprises coming for our loyal readers. And all still for just £2. To mark the occasion, this issue is one of our biggest fashion issues ever, with a record number of pages devoted to bringing you everything you need to know about the new season, throughout the entire book.”

Forty per cent of the editorial pages within the issue are dedicated to fashion in some way. Fashion advertising pages are up 30% year on year, amounting to the highest number of fashion advertising pages in a March issue for the past five years, says the publishers. Fashion clients include Dolce and Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Sport Max, DKNY, Michael Michael Kors, Replay, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend by Max Mara, Pinko, Liu Jo, Guess, Juicy Couture, Westfield and Bimba y Lola.

Simon Kippin, Publishing Director, says: “I’m delighted that our clients have embraced the special limited-edition large-format March issue, and excited to be able to showcase the new collections and campaigns in this way, whilst offering readers an additional print option of their favourite magazine.”

The March 2014 issue will be followed by subsequent selected issues, available in a choice of formats. The size of the alternative issue is 285mm x 215mm, similar to British Vogue. 20% of the March issue run has been published in a larger format, priced at £2.00, the same as the standard handbag size. Glamour launched in 2001 and was the first to champion the now much copied smaller size magazine.

The market leader, Glamour's brand footprint is 25% bigger than its closest competitor, says Conde Nast. Glamour has combined circulation of 404,946 (ABC Jan-June 2013), readership of 1,235,000 (NRS Jan-June 2013) and unique users totaling 2,587,431 (Google analytics Oct-Dec 2013).
