Two Sides Autumn Seminar

Over 100 professionals spanning the print media value chain attended this year’s Autumn Seminar held at historic Stationer’s Hall in London on 12 November.

Focusing on the role of print media in a multi-media world, Jeremy Dain of PwC, and Julian Ingram of McCann Worldwide, set out the prospects for print media and challenged the industry to understand and communicate not only the power of print but also the real benefits that print media delivers as part of any successful campaign. Brands are looking for quantifiable returns from their marketing budgets and the print industry must continue to provide the hard evidence that will persuade brands to continue or increase their print media activity. Fraser Chesterman and Marcus Timson of FM Brooks/Ecoprint provided some practical advice for organisations adapting to the new media world.

In the second part of the event, WWF provided an insight into the impact of forest development, particularly in the Far East, to meet the growing demand for print in emerging markets.  A group of Indonesian visiting NGOs shared their experiences and raised issues of good governance.  Rachel Butler, advisor to the Timber Trades Federation, followed with an explanation of the new European timber regulations which will affect all users of timber products shortly.

The event was concluded with Martyn Eustace of Two Sides and Print Power revealing the extent of the current ‘No Wonder You Love Paper Campaign’ and also launching the latest issue of Print Power magazine.
