UK-wide advertising campaign as Candis hits newstands

Candis magazine, the largest women’s subscription magazine, has started a 12 week advertising campaign to support its first move onto UK news-stands.

The October issue is the magazine’s first issue to be sold on news-stands in its 50 year history.

The £90,000 campaign comprises radio and print and aims to draw upon the warmth, vibrancy and boldness of the hand-bag sized glossy magazine and its focus on inspirational, rather than aspirational content, for family-focused women.

A radio campaign is running across Real Radio in Scotland and the North West, Smooth Radio in the East Midlands and Heart Radio in Oxfordshire, Reading, Sussex and Kent.

Promotional inserts will feature in 213,000 copies of The Mail on Sunday across the southern counties and Yorkshire and full page adverts will feature in seven weeklies and dailies in the South East.

Published by Newhall Publications, Candis has a circulation of 236,075 and has distributed an additional 70,000 copies to support its distribution via 6,000 stores including Asda, Sainsbury’s and Tesco amongst others.

Bryan Douglas-Dala, managing director of Newhall Publications Ltd, publishers of Candis, said: “Although Candis is a brand that’s been round since the 1960s and has an incredibly loyal reader community, it’s not widely known across the UK.

“This ad campaign allows us to take the Candis brand to a much larger audience very quickly and is integral to our move into the retail market.  We’re deliberately targeting those geographies and media that fit with our high-spending female audience and expect this promotion to be a key driver for people choosing Candis.”

The Newhall Publications team has managed the campaign in-house.
