Bauer unveils new editor for FHM

Bauer Media has appointed Colin Kennedy to the role of Editor of FHM, the men's lifestyle brand.

Colin Kennedy (pictured), formerly editor of Bauer Media’s Empire magazine, has spent the majority of his career at Bauer Media (previously Emap), most recently as Digital Creative Director, with responsibility for championing digital development and excellence across the Bauer Media portfolio.

During his three years as Editor of Empire from 2002, Colin achieved six consecutive ABC increases to deliver record sales of over 205,000, was rewarded with a number of industry awards in the process, while delivering groundbreaking issues featuring spectacular covers including the holographic Matrix, a ‘breathing’ Darth Vader and a lenticular Spiderman cover. Colin was previously features editor at Empire, and began his Bauer Media career with Smash Hits from 1996 to 1999.

Geoff Campbell, MD of Bauer Media Men’s Lifestyle division commented:

“Colin brings a wealth of big brand editorial experience, an impressive track record of innovation and editorial product development, a proven digital ability and a deep understanding of FHM’s audience that will prove invaluable to the continued evolution of this most famous of men's lifestyle brands.”

Colin Kennedy added: “Ever since I supplied the odd article to FHM’s Reporter section back in 1997, I have waited for a chance to contribute to the worldwide success story of Bauer’s flagship men’s title.

That this opportunity turns out be as Editor during such an important time for the brand is genuinely thrilling  - and just a little bit scary. Hopefully, some of the things I’ve learned along the way will help me take the team and the title forward into a new decade of success.”

Colin replaces Anthony Noguera, who left Bauer Media last month to explore new ventures. Colin starts his new role immediately.

Colin Kennedy is the sixth editor of FHM and follows in the footsteps of Mike Soutar, Ed Needham, Anthony Noguera (twice), David Davies and Ross Brown.
