DC Thomson appoints new editors

DC Thomson has appointed Eileen McGinley as Editor-in-Chief of girls’ magazines and Robert Wight as Editor of The Scots Magazine. Eileen and Robert will take up their respective positions in April 2014.

As Editor-in-Chief of DC Thomson’s girls’ magazines, Eileen will drive the strategic vision of portfolio publications; Animals and You, Shout, The Official Jacqueline Wilson Mag and their brand extensions. She previously held the position of Innovations Editor within the consumer magazines department and in that role managed numerous campaigns across DC Thomson’s magazine titles.

Eileen said, “I am delighted to be heading up the girls’ magazines team. We have a range of creative, inspiring and entertaining magazines and I look forward to working on the portfolio.”

Robert Wight will join The Scots Magazine as Editor taking overall responsibility for the editorial direction of the magazine. Robert joins The Scots Magazine from The Sunday Post where he held the position of Lead Reporter. Whilst at The Sunday Post, Robert led the Churchcastle campaign which received a highly commended accolade at the 2012 UK Press Awards. He has also written widely on rural issues, leading on campaigns with a focus on fuel costs and the rural economy.

Robert said, “The Scots Magazine is an iconic Scottish brand. It is a great opportunity for me to drive the editorial of a unique magazine and I look forward to this exciting new challenge.”

DC Thomson Head of Publishing (Consumer Entertainment) Neil O’Brien added, “Eileen and Robert bring with them a passion and knowledge for the brands they’ll be working on and I’m thrilled to welcome them to the magazine publishing team at DC Thomson.”
