Media 10 has named David Michon as new editor of Icon Magazine – one of the world’s leading architecture and design titles.
Prior to joining Icon, David held positions as Managing Editor at Winkreative and Managing Editor at Monocle magazine, where he began working in 2009.
In 2011, David managed the launch of M24, Monocle’s round-the-clock digital radio station, and began producing M24’s weekly flagship radio show on cities, The Urbanist. From 2014, David worked with Monocle’s sister company – the creative agency Winkreative – focusing on editorial strategy and property.
“It’s an honour to take the reins of such a respected title, and I very much look forward in ushering in a new chapter, and building on Icon’s history as one to watch on the newsstand. Icon has a strong and independent voice, but we can push it forward: make it a truly international, informed and enjoyable place for architecture and design lovers to find opinion, reportage, review and also a platform for ideas.”
Media 10 also welcomes Helen Parton who re-joins the company as Editor of onoffice Magazine, the commercial architectural and design magazine. Helen previously worked as features editor of onoffice magazine between 2007-2008, before pursuing a freelance career, which saw her work published in a variety of both consumer and trade titles, ranging from FX to Crafts to Grand Designs. In 2011, she co-authored a book on workplace interiors, entitled Total Office Design, which was published by Thames and Hudson.
"After gaining a raft of experience in the design world, not just in terms of writing and commissioning, but also working on events and other commercial ventures, I felt that now was the best time to return to a full-time editor’s role, especially on a title I know and love so well, having worked on it previously. Workplace design is a subject I am passionate about and can’t wait to take what is an already highly-regarded magazine and website to the next level in terms of editorial quality and integrity, as well as contributing to expanding the brand in new and innovative ways.”
