Email Marketing Expert joins Adestra to drive U.S. Growth

Adestra, the email marketing software provider, this week announced the appointment of Ryan Phelan as its new vice president of marketing insights to develop its U.S. market strategy and drive growth.

As a respected industry thought-leader, Phelan brings nearly two decades of proven success driving strategy within high-growth SaaS companies and advancing winning digital marketing campaigns, says Adestra.

According to Henry Hyder-Smith, CEO, building a U.S. stronghold is essential to Adestra’s competitiveness in an increasingly global marketplace.

“The United States is a key growth market for Adestra, so we’re delighted that Ryan has joined our team,” Hyder-Smith said. “With his deep experience and reputation in the industry, we’re confident that Ryan can deliver the same success we have created on the European side of the pond.”

Most recently, Phelan served as Vice President of Global Shared Services at Acxiom where he worked with some of the world’s most recognized brands, leading their digital marketing efforts. As a passionate advocate for the marketer, Phelan published the company’s first Consumer Benchmark Study and became a leading authority on the use of advanced segmentation strategies through numerous speaking engagements and articles.

Prior to Acxiom, Phelan also held senior-level digital marketing positions at Responsys, Sears, BlueHornet and infoUSA.

“One of the things I admire most about Adestra is their commitment to being true client partners,” Phelan said. “They’re very focused on being that go-to resource that can help marketers at so many levels – from services to innovative technology – and that’s something that’s missing in the email marketing space, especially with recent consolidations. I am looking forward to working with this incredible group of people to help grow the company’s U.S. client base and, more importantly, drive value for our American partners.”

Phelan is a nationally known speaker at conferences and industry events subjects relating to digital media. In 2013, he was named one of the Top 30 digital strategists in the United States by the Online Marketing Institute and is often quoted in books about email marketing and articles from some of the top minds in the digital space.

Phelan is currently the Chair for the Email Experience Council’s Advisory Board through the Direct Marketing Association and Advisory Board Member for Direct Marketing News (DMNews). He also was the keynote speaker at Email Experience Council’s annual conference in both 2012 and 2014.
