Emap and Mack Brooks announce new joint-venture

Emap Ltd, UK, and Mack Brooks Exhibitions Ltd, UK, have announced they are to form a new joint-venture company, Emap-Brooks International Ltd, to launch a range of new international exhibitions.

This new joint-venture aims to capitalise on Emap's strength as the UK's number one trade show producer and Mack Brooks' unrivalled experience in overseas event organising, says Emap.

Emap produces over 300 business to business events (exhibitions, conferences, awards and summits) a year. Emap Connect alone (its exhibition division), claims to be the largest trade show organiser in the UK with 20 industry-leading exhibitions including the home and gift market's Spring and Autumn Fairs; BETT, the education technology event;  PURE the fashion exhibition and RWM for the recycling and renewables markets.

Following the success of the launch of the Global Fashion Awards in New York and the geo-cloning of BETT (the education technology show) to the Middle East and World Retail Congress (the "Davos of Retail") to Asia, Emap intends to fast track its international roll-outs and new launches by combining the strength of its brands with Mack Brooks international network, distribution and operations.

Mack Brooks has a proven track record of over 35 years running international events and an extensive network of branches and partners globally. It organises 18 leading events in Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Russia, India, China, Brazil, Singapore and the USA.

The newly formed joint-venture has set itself the target of launching up to 10 new exhibitions during the next 2-3 years.

Emap Connect’s CEO, Malcolm Gough said: “Mack Brooks’ expertise and track-record in creating and growing profitable events globally is second to none, and we are convinced that this partnership will provide a great spring board for us to grow our business on a truly international scale”.

Mack Brooks’ CEO, Stephen Brooks, said: “I have long admired Emap’s powerful business in the UK and been impressed by the company’s ability to launch and develop leading brands for the UK market; I strongly believe that a number of Emap’s brands are well-suited to development in new markets, both in established and in emerging markets around the world. In order to launch these brands in different countries, we are able to build on a network of partnerships all over the world which we plan to strengthen and develop.”

Mack Brooks organises exhibitions in the fields of metalworking, engineering, transport, metalworking, information technology, railways, construction, tunnelling, airport management, printing, converting, textiles, water supply and food technology.
