Engine Creative develops AR Magic Moment for heat

Creative agency Engine Creative have continued their collaboration with heat magazine to create an Augmented Reality (AR) competition to support the magazine’s sponsorship of the National Television Awards held at the O2 Arena on Wednesday 23rd January.

The competition offered attendees at the awards ceremony the chance to win £1000 by scanning the competition page in their event programme using the ‘heat extra’ app at the all important ‘Magic Moment.’ The winner was the attendee who scanned as close to the selected moment between 6:30pm and 7:30pm on the night. Upon scanning the page attendees were met with a video of heat’s Editor-in-Chief Lucie Cave informing them as to whether they have found the ‘Magic Moment’ and have won the competition.

The scannable competition continues Engine Creative’s AR work with heat magazine, following the publication becoming the world’s first entertainment weekly to incorporate regular AR content since its launch in July, says the company.

Lucie Cave, Editor-in-Chief of heat magazine said: “Engine Creative have developed yet another fabulous project to push the heat brand further than ever before, taking publishing literally into a new dimension!"

Phil Christer, Creative Director at Engine Creative said: “We have really enjoyed working alongside the heat editorial team once again to bring this ambitious NTA ‘Magic Moment’ competition to life. The competition builds upon heat's existing AR work offering progression away from the magazine into different print media, whilst still utilising the strength and unique tone of voice that the heat brand possesses. We have got some more fantastic digital campaigns lined up with heat for 2013, so watch this space!"
