Felix Dennis's First Poetry App Tops Charts

Felix Dennis sees overnight success with his Tales From The Woods iPad app.

According to Dennis Publishing: “The app which features both video and audio, was launched on Friday 9th September and has already seen over 400 downloads from across the globe securing its place at number one on the iTunes Book Chart.

Tales From The Woods is a thrilling, impassioned hymn of praise to trees and the English countryside. The app features stunning illustrations throughout by Bill Sanderson, whose work has featured in The Times, Esquire and on the BBC. The beautiful app also featured audio and video of the poems being performed by the poet himself – all filmed during last year’s sell-out Did I Mention The Free Wine?2010 poetry tour.

Tales From The Woods is an ode to the British countryside and takes the reader on a journey through nature: from a hornbeam’s delicate shade of green in spring and the ‘kamikaze’ obduracy of ornamental maples, to ‘Mrs. Fox’ making a home for her cubs and a sea-green dragonfly caught in a spider’s web.

In just eight years, Felix Dennis (pictured) has established himself as one of the most popular and critically acclaimed poets of recent times and his poetry tours have entertained thousands of poetry-lovers on both sides of the Atlantic. His poetry has been regularly featured on radio programmes, in the national press, and in two major television documentaries, as well as having garnered critical acclaim from Tom Wolfe, Christopher Rush, Jon Snow, Stephen Fry, Dawn French and Sir Paul McCartney, to name but a few.
