The Financial Times has announced it has launched China Focus, a new curated section on FT.com that will carry the latest news, analysis and opinion on Asia’s biggest economy, written by FT correspondents in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taipei.
China Focus combines FT journalism with interactive graphics to help explain the world’s second largest economy in numbers. The Regional Data Explorer, a new interactive graphic, allows readers to explore economic data, including the GDP of some of China’s provinces, providing a granular focus on the economic performance of the country, added the publisher.
The FT says China Focus has been created in response to growing audience demand for news on China. In the first half of 2023, traffic to China-related stories on FT.com rose by 26% compared to the same period last year.
Asia editor Robin Harding said: “We want this section to become an essential tool for our readers, helping them to navigate the ‘need to know’ stories with the biggest impact on the news agenda. What happens in China affects every corner of global business and it’s crucially important to our readers.”
