The newly relaunched site – which claims to be used by 80,000 healthcare professionals including GPs, nurses, practice staff, pharmacists and students – boasts a new design and structure as well as a powerful search function.
Each of Haymarket’s UK medical titles now has its own homepage within the site that gives users the latest news, features and surveys from its print edition as well as web exclusives.
Richard Yarwood, online publisher for Haymarket Medical, said: “Our goals for Healthcare Republic were to gain superior functionality, increased usability and greater promotion for our heritage brands – GP newspaper, Independent Nurse, the MIMS Specialist Journals and MIMS. I believe we can tick the box for all three.
“Healthcare Republic always seeks to inform and support healthcare professionals in their career development and the provision of high-quality care. Introducing concepts such as our GP Curriculum Centre and our storage folder exemplifies this promise.”
The GP Curriculum Centre, located within the new Learning section, provides GPs with the information they need to fulfil their continuing education and revalidation requirements.
The personal storage folder feature allows users to save articles on the site, while the recently relaunched MIMS website offers an interactive and searchable version of the trusted MIMS prescription reference guide.
“Another great improvement” adds Healthcare Republic editor Emilie Reymond, “is our Management section which incorporates all the tools and resources GPs need to run their practice. These include the Medeconomics database of NHS and non-NHS fees, Ask the experts, and the latest Medeconomics articles from GP newspaper.”
The popular blogs and forums section, where users can discuss the latest healthcare issues and editors have a chance to connect with readers, remains an integral part of the website.
