Ideal Home appoints new Associate Editor

IPC Southbank's interiors magazine, Ideal Home, has announced the appointment of Nicola Phillips as associate editor overseeing the decorating content of the magazine.

In her new role, Nicola will be working directly with editorial director Isobel McKenzie-Price to reframe Ideal Home’s decorating content. This is the next phase of an ongoing editorial development programme that has taken the title to no. 1 in the interiors sector, with a circulation increase of 9.8% period-on-period and 5.7% year-on-year in the most recent ABC figures (January to June 2010), says the publisher.

Nicola Phillips is returning to IPC after a short career break following the birth of her twin sons. Her previous role within the company was deputy editor of Livingetc. Prior to this, she held a senior position on Ideal Home which included overseeing the decorating team and playing a key role in driving the magazine to its market-leading success.

Editorial director Isobel McKenzie-Price says: “I am thrilled that Nicola is returning to IPC and to Ideal Home. She’s an inspiring and truly creative journalist who will set the agenda for the nation’s decorating on Britain’s no.1 title.  We’ve come through the recession into a fresher, more positive world where homeowners are looking for original, inspiring decorating ideas relevant to the way we live now. Nicola’s creative genius and vision is perfectly complemented by her real-life experience of modern family life.  Her true talent is making everyday life more stylish, more beautiful and more fun.”

Nicola says: "I am delighted to be returning to IPC to work with Isobel and the talented Ideal Home team. After three children and three house moves, I can bring even more hands-on decorating know how, a renewed passion for interiors and enough 'family space' ideas to fill 12 bumper issues!"

Nicola will take up her new role on September 13.
