IPC brands recognised by Hitwise

IPC Media brands Nuts.co.uk, Goodtoknow.co.uk and NME.com have secured the top positions in their categories in the Experian Hitwise Top 10 Awards 2012.

The Awards recognise the UK websites that receive the most traffic from UK internet users from January to December 2012.

Nuts.co.uk is ranked number one based on market share of visits among all UK websites in the Hitwise Lifestyle–Men’s Sites sector. The award marks the fifth year in succession that Nuts has taken the top slot.

For the fourth year running, Goodtoknow.co.uk is ranked number one based on market share of visits among all UK websites in the Hitwise Lifestyle–Women’s Sites sector.

NME.com makes the number one slot in the Music sector, outranking rivals including MTV.co.uk, guardian.co.uk/music and Spotify.com.

Elsewhere in the Hitwise Top 10 Awards Jan-Dec 2012, Horseandhound.co.uk, which refreshed recently, is ranked third in the Lifestyle–Pets & Animals sector, retaining its position as the UK's No.1 equestrian website. YBW.com is ranked third in the Sports–Yachting and Boating sector.

Roger Cummings, publishing director, Goodtoknow says: “We are delighted to have topped our category, for the fourth year in a row. Goodtoknow’s understanding of where, when and how busy UK mainstream women consume content has been key to our success and what makes this year’s award even more satisfying is the growth in traffic from a range of platforms, driven through new social and CRM initiatives. This category is highly competitive, however our compelling mix of insight, innovation and first class content means our audience is as loyal and as engaged as ever!”

Jo Smalley, publishing director, Nuts adds: “It's a fantastic achievement for the Nuts brand and the team that we've once again topped our sector. Young men are one of the hardest audiences to please, and this award demonstrates that Nuts continues to deliver a compelling mix of entertaining content that keeps our users and our clients coming back for more.”

Tracy Cheesman, acting publishing director, NME adds: “NME.COM continues to super-serve an intensely engaged audience and editorially, we continue to strive to find new ways to present content, delight users and build a social buzz. NME.COM is where the most passionate music fans on the planet come together and it’s an incredible achievement for NME.com to have won this award - particularly given the caliber of some of the sites in our category.”
