Launch: Women In Sport

Women In Sport, a new monthly magazine for “everyone who loves women in sport”, goes on sale 24 October, at the introductory price of £3. (Normal price: £3.99.)

According to distributors COMAG: Offering something different in the Women's Interest sector, Women In Sport is a fresh, new magazine that focuses on women who love, participate and compete in the world of sport.

Filling a gap that currently exists on the newsstand, Women In Sport will champion, inform, educate and inspire readers about the amazing female sports stars currently competing, as well as those amateur sportswomen who take part for fun, fitness and freedom all around the country.

Providing greater coverage of all sports that women enjoy, particularly in the UK, every issue will feature at least 100 pages of Women In Sport, at both professional and amateur levels.

While the core audience is likely to be women aged between 16 and 45, Women In Sport is aimed at anyone with an interest in sport, whether at a grassroots or professional level.

Written by an experienced team of sports writers and reporters, with contributions by many famous sportswomen, every issue of Women In Sport will feature news and reviews about the latest sports events, interviews with some of the biggest stars, exclusive content as well as a comprehensive section covering sports clubs, personal trainers, gymnasiums and more.

Following the triumphs of London 2012, this year has seen women’s sports given much more prominence than previously, with not just athletics, tennis and gymnastics heavily featured.

This year there has been increased coverage of the England women’s cricket team regaining the Ashes from Australia, BBC coverage of the England women’s football team in their ultimately unsuccessful Euro 2013 football championships, as well as more cycling and netball than before.

As well as a regular column by Denise Lewis, Olympic gold medal winning heptathlete, Women In Sport include features on health, fitness and nutrition, as well as lifestyle and wellbeing.

At the introductory price of £3 (normal price £3.99), the November issue of Women In Sport has double Olympic golden medallist from London 2012 Laura Trott on the cover and talks to the track cycling superstar about her year since her first Olympic Games and her plans for Rio 2016.
