Chair of the judges, broadcaster Nick Ferrari said there had been an outstanding response across the industry to this year’s awards, making judging harder than ever.
He added: “This year’s contenders packed as big a punch as Tyson Fury and demonstrate that, without a shred of doubt, the British press is the most professional, robust and best on the planet. As some have discovered over the last 12 months to their cost!”
The London Press Club says winners will be revealed at the London Press Club Awards lunch on Tuesday 17 October. It will be held at Stationers’ Hall, near St Paul’s Cathedral.
Doug Wills, chair of London Press Club, said: “It has been a phenomenal news year, particularly in British politics and world affairs. We are delighted that this year we have the new award for Political Journalist of the Year. Thanks to the support of Lord Salisbury, this award comes with £1,500 prize money for the winner.
“We are also thrilled that the Journalists Charity has again agreed to give a £1,000 cash prize to the winner of the London Press Club’s Young Journalist of the Year Award.”
Reservations can now be made for attending the Awards Lunch. As in previous years, there will be a champagne reception at 12.30 for 1pm start. The event will finish before 3pm.
You can make your reservations here. The London Press Club says the cost is once again being held at £2000 for a table of 10, or £250 for individual bookings (£225 for Press Club members). All prices include VAT at 20%. Or email info@londonpressclub.co.uk to book.
