Lorraine & Look search for curvy supermodel

ITV1’s morning show Lorraine has launched the UK’s first curvy supermodel search with the help of fashion weekly, Look magazine.

The winner – who will be at least a UK size 12 – will secure a year’s modelling contract with 12+ UK Model Management and ten shoots for Look’s fashion pages.

The winning curvy model will also walk in the Look Show, which takes place at London Fashion Week and last season featured Crystal Renn (pictured), the curvy supermodel.

Both Look and ITV1’s Lorraine will promote the curvy supermodel competition and there will be additional promotional support from ITV’s Daybreak for eight weeks. There will also be a PR campaign to drive awareness of the competition and both brands.

Ali Hall, editor of Look says: “Look is all about making great fashion accessible to women regardless of shape, size or budget. Five months ago Look started using curvier models in the magazine every week and the response was overwhelming. 94% of our readers believe that women of all sizes can be fashionable and it’s important that Look reflects this. However, there is a real shortage of curvy fashion models in the industry, so we’ve teamed up with Lorraine because we’re determined to change that.”

Mark Heyes, fashion stylist on Lorraine, says: “On Lorraine, we have always looked to represent fashion for British woman through age and size. I’m really excited to see real women strut their stuff in the Lorraine studio, on the pages of Look and down the catwalk at London Fashion Week. It’s great to give women the chance of such a life changing opportunity.”

In recent Look reader research, 93 percent agreed that it is really important that models of all sizes are included in magazine features; and 76 percent said they would love it if Look featured even more curvy models every week.
