MailOnline passes the 100 million mark

The site, which became the world’s biggest newspaper website in January 2012, recorded a record 105,720,020 in August 2012 according to new figures released yesterday by ABC.

According to the Mail: This is an increase of an incredible 30,797,461 additional browsers on August 2011 which represents a 41.1% increase. And in a month they read an amazing 1.92 billion pages, an increase of 111.3% on last August.

Comscore, the leading global internet metrics company, said that in August 2012, MailOnline recorded an average of 6.192 million daily unique visitors against 5.366 million for the NYTimes.com, and 49.394 million monthly unique visitors against 42.537 million for the NYTimes.com.

MailOnline also received 32.9% more Monthly Unique Visitors and 38.9% more Average Daily Visitors than BBC News globally.

This month’s ABC certificate for worldwide traffic also confirms that in August 2012, MailOnline recorded an average of 6,557,117 browsers every day: 48.9% higher than in August 2011.

That’s 72 per cent more visitors a day than its nearest rival, The Guardian which recorded 3,816,464 visitors a day, while The Telegraph was on 2,750,404.

In the UK, MailOnline was visited by an average of 2,880,848 UK residents every day, 62.3% more than in August 2011.

Mail Online had 37.4 million unique browsers in the UK in August, an increase of 51.6% year on year.

And 634,682 users accessed the MailOnline iPhone app globally in August 2012 and had astonishing levels of engagement.

278,555 users accessed the app each day, that’s 8.8% higher than the previous month.

Globally, there were 386,955 visitors for August on the Android App, with an average of 101,453 each day.

Hitwise also records Mail Online as the top UK newspaper site among British internet users. According to Hitwise, Mail Online has a 43.96% share of visits to national UK newspapers.
