Marie Claire teams up with Pearl & Dean

As part of the marketing campaign promoting the new Marie Claire, the glossy magazine has linked up with Pearl & Dean and Vue Cinemas to launch a series of monthly film preview screenings for its readers.

The partnership begins on 8 September with a preview of Sony Pictures’ Julie and Julia, starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. Readers can register for their tickets through the recently re-launched Marie Claire website – although tickets for the Julie and Julia screening were snapped up within 48 hours.

In five of the 20 cinemas hosting the previews, Marie Claire will be holding extra ‘pamper parlours’ for attendees, where cinemagoers can get their hair styled by one of the expert teams on hand.

The screenings will continue in October with the romantic comedy, Couple’s Retreat. Ticket registration for this will be available online in late September to coincide with the October print issue of Marie Claire.

IPC Southbank recently unveiled the new vision for Marie Claire, which delivers a glossier, smarter and sexier magazine and a new look for its website. The developments follow the appointment of a new editor-in-chief, Trish Halpin, earlier this year.

Richard Johnstone (pictured), publishing director of Marie Claire says: "The season of Marie Claire exclusive film preview screenings has already proved to be a big hit, with the first screening selling out in less than two days. Not only are preview screenings a great girls night out, an exclusive treat to share with friends, but they also provide us with a high impact media environment to showcase Marie Claire to new and existing readers.”

Kathryn Jacob, CEO of Pearl & Dean adds, “Associating the fun, new Marie Claire with a succession of female-themed film previews is a great way for IPC Southbank to bring the magazine to life for its readership. Watching movies is an engaging, social experience, which Marie Claire readers can share with their friends and partners for free through this campaign. With the title’s heritage of beauty, fashion, glamour and lifestyle, it is perfectly aligned with the silver screen experience.”

Details of further monthly preview screenings with the magazine are still to be confirmed.
