Future: Paul Newman and Matt Pierce take up Editorial Director roles

Future plc, the international media group and leading magazine publisher, today announces two new senior appointments in its recently created magazine division.

The new division will bring a deeper focus to magazines, developing its current brands and providing a platform for further print innovation.

Matt Pierce becomes the Editorial Director of Future's Design, Games and Photography portfolios; while Paul Newman takes responsibility for the Film, Music and Technology titles.

Pierce has spent the last three years heading up the content and marketing for Future’s Photography and Design portfolios, during which time both groups have enjoyed print market-leadership and have grown their audiences with new launches Professional Photography and Colour Calm, says Future. The group also produces major annual events, The Photography Show and the Generate Web Design Conference. Pierce’s editorial background is in Games, having been Editor of PC Gamer, and Group Publisher of many brands including The Official PlayStation Magazine, Edge, GamesMaster and Gamesradar.com.

Newman, meanwhile, steps up from his previous role as Group Editor-in-Chief of Future's Technology Group. With a product development track record spanning the Design, Sports, Photography and Technology sectors, he brings his considerable experience of launching and redesigning magazines to the role, something he most recently demonstrated with 2015's comprehensive and successful relaunch of gadget title T3.

Joe McEvoy, Managing Director of Future Magazine Division: "Matt and Paul are a formidable editorial leadership team, combining the strength of Future’s magazine heritage with a passion to innovate and grow. I am delighted to have them on my team and know they will be an important factor in our division's future success ”

Matt Pierce, Editorial Director of Design, Games and Photography: “As well as continuing to oversee our market-leading Photography and Design portfolios, I’m delighted to be working across Future’s fantastic Games titles again. I can’t wait to help the editorial teams take their brands from strength to strength.”

Paul Newman, Editorial Director of Film, Music and Technology: "Reports of the magazine's demise have been greatly exaggerated and I am therefore massively looking forward to helping the talented teams responsible for iconic brands such as Total Film, Guitarist and T3 take their titles to new heights."
