Metro deploys new cascade ad format to promote Legend

Metro newspaper delivered a creative media first yesterday morning for Studio Canal to promote the release of its new movie today, Legend.

The ‘three page cascade’ is a DPS consisting of six print pages in a series of cut-out consecutive ads that increase in size each time the reader turns over to eventually reveal a full page creative.

The innovative new format, bought by Target Media, has been utilised to perfectly showcase Tom Hardy playing the two characters of Reggie and Ronnie Kray, the infamous and identical twin gangsters often referred to as the most notorious criminals in British history.

Each page of the cascade represents a different character. Ten different pieces of advertising are included within this one format alone and over 760,000 copies of Metro were distributed in London yesterday morning – the city where the movie is set.
