New Deputy Editor appointed at The Weekly News

The Weekly News has appointed Billy Higgins as Deputy Editor. He takes over the role from Rod Cameron who retires at the end of March 2014.

As Deputy Editor, Billy will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the newspaper. He will lead the editorial direction and continue to deliver a quality product for readers.

Billy has worked with The Weekly News for 30 years having begun his career as an Editorial Assistant on the newspaper at the age of 17. Previous roles at the title include Chief Sub-Editor and Deputy Production Editor.

Billy Higgins said, “I’m delighted to have been made Deputy Editor. The Weekly News is an established title and I look forward to the many exciting challenges that lie ahead.”

The Weekly News Editor-in-Chief Donald Martin added, “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Billy Higgins as Deputy Editor of The Weekly News. Billy has played an important part in the recent development and redesign of the newspaper and is an integral part of the team.
