New partwork: DC Chess Collection

DC Chess Collection, a new fortnightly partwork from Eaglemoss, goes on sale 8 February, at an initial price of £2.99.

According to distributors COMAG: “The DC Chess Collection is an exciting new magazine and figurine collection that offers the comic fan and chess lover alike the chance to collect fantastic and unique chess pieces, each piece is a vivid representation of some of DC Comics’ greatest characters.

Every issue will come with a superb playing piece based on a DC Comics character and a 16-page magazine, which will have information about the featured character as well as essential tips and strategies for chess players of all levels of skill and experience.

The chess pieces are highly detailed replicas of DC Comics characters and have been superbly rendered, cast from a specially formulated metallic resin and painted by expert model-makers, so that they will be highly collectable figurines.

The DC Chess Collection will begin with the Batman chess set, which will pit Gotham City's greatest heroes against arch-enemy, the Joker's villains of Arkham Asylum.

The DC Chess Collection is aimed at predominantly male fans of all the characters from DC Comics as well as chess players.

Issue No.1 comes with a Batman figurine as the White Knight, standing at over five inches tall. Issue No.2 will feature The Joker as the Black King, while future issues will carry other officially approved figurines of some of the characters from the DC Comics universe including Robin, Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face, Batgirl, Riddler… to build up the set of playing pieces.

Issue No.1 is on sale 08/02/12 at the introductory price of £2.99.

Issue No.2 will be on sale 23/02/12 at the regular price of £7.99.

The DC Chess Collection will be supported by a huge two week TV advertising campaign from 7 February, as well as through e-mail, online marketing and social media.

The DC Chess Collection will be fully SoR to retail throughout the collection.”
