Magnus is currently editor-in-chief of the Herald & Times Group based in Glasgow, which encompasses The Herald, Sunday Herald, The National and Evening Times titles and their digital platforms.
Magnus replaces Les Snowdon who is joining The Sun. Lindsay McIntosh, the political editor in Scotland, will be deputy editor.
