Oneshot: Military Watches Special Edition – The Birth Of The RAF

Military Watches Special Edition – The Birth Of The RAF, a oneshot from Eaglemoss, goes on sale 12 June, priced £25.99.

According to distributors COMAG: Building on the phenomenal success of the Military Watches collection, Eaglemoss is launching this special standalone issue, looking at the birth of the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1918.

At the time the RAF was formed, cockpit instrumentation was minimal. So in order to navigate effectively pilots needed a portable timepiece they could rely on.

Aimed predominantly at men, especially those who are collecting the regular series, Military Watches Special Edition – The Birth Of The RAF will have a unique, limited edition pocket watch inspired by those worn by pilots of the Royal Flying Corps towards the end of World War 1.

With a black dial, Arabic numbers and second dial at 6 o’clock as featured on the original Armstrong Admiralty MkII watch, the pocket watch is a highly detailed timepiece. With a Japanese quartz movement, the watch is water resistant and guaranteed against defects in manufacture for two years.

As well as the timepiece itself, Military Watches Special Edition – The Birth Of The RAF will have a 16-page magazine about the history of the watch and the dawn of British military aviation.

Military Watches Special Edition – The Birth Of The RAF will be supported with trade flyers in part No.7 (on sale 15/05/14) and No.8 (on sale 29/05/14) of the regular Military Watches collection, as well as a sticker on the front of issue No.8.
