Outbrain launches in France

Outbrain, the content discovery platform, yesterday opened its network to external sponsored links in France.

TF1, Libération, Mondadori, Slate, Bestofmedia, Planet.fr and le10sport.com are the first French publishers to use its technology.

Using a series of algorithms, Outbrain recommends relevant, interesting and personalised content to each user. Below each article or video, Outbrain displays a series of links: either internal links within the site or external links to third-party sites.

TF1 (TF1 News and Plurielles sites), Libération, Mondadori (Closer site), Slate, Bestofmedia (Tom's Guide and Tom's Hardware sites), Planet.fr (Planet and Femmes Plus) and le10sport.com are the first French users of Outbrain’s sponsored links network.

According to Outbrain, the advantages are numerous for partner publishers using Outbrain algorithms to recommend content on their sites:

• Significant increase in the number of pages viewed and, consequently, in advertising revenue, due to a high click through rate on ultra-personalised links

• New source of revenue, not competing with advertising, owing to the display of sponsored links to other content

And, Outbrain continues, the advantages for marketers: Sponsors appearing in the sponsored links on the network’s sites have the opportunity to reach a new audience via this content. In this way, Outbrain’s traffic acquisition programs enable publishers and brands (via brand content) to reach highly engaged readers: they surf according to a reading/content discovery logic, thus generating a large number of viewed pages on the sponsor’s site.

Yaron Galai (pictured), CEO Outbrain: "There’s great content on the web, but it’s buried in a lot of noise of uninteresting or irrelevant content. We started Outbrain to help solve this by offering people links to content they would find very interesting. We help publishers provide their audience with a great user experience, automatically showing each person personalized, interesting links for further engaging with the site. On top of that, Outbrain provides publishers with a new source of revenue that compliments their advertising revenue, while improving user satisfaction."

“The opening of our network to sponsored links in France is a key opportunity, as it is the first non-English-speaking European country in which we have set up our recommendation service. Our solutions are now working perfectly with content in French and generating excellent click-through rates (CTR), so we have no doubt that the sponsored links are enjoying the same success” stated Franck Monsauret, Country Manager France.
