PPA unveils details of 2013 conference

The Professional Publishers Association (PPA) has announced details of its annual conference taking place on May 8, 2013 at the Hilton London Metropole.

Building on last year’s event, the PPA Conference 2013: Publishing+ will explore the key topics influencing the magazine publishing industry, with a particular focus on innovation and emerging technologies.

Ed Vaizey MP, Minister for Culture, Communications & Creative Industries, will open the conference with a keynote address, followed by a Q&A moderated by PPA CEO Barry McIlheney.

Other high-profile speakers already confirmed for this year’s event include Suzie Forbes, Principal of The Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design; Tracey Davies, MD Retail, Recruitment & Events at EMAP; Nial Ferguson, Group Publishing Director at Future Plc; Richard Watts, Brand Republic’s Group Publishing Director; Marcus Fairs, Editor-in-Chief of award winning Dezeen digital magazine; Sasha Vekeman of mobile advertising company Mobiya; and Simon Kanter, Editorial Director of the Haymarket Network.

Case studies, panel discussions, and presentations on the day will cover areas such as:

• How to build on your core brand to move into new markets

• Key technological developments at the core of new publishing models

• The evolution of the advertising market and how automation fits with display

• The factors driving change and revenue growth in B2B events

• Managing digital content and introducing responsive design

• Monetising content across all platforms

• The value of quality content in today’s market

In addition to the conference itself, says the PPA, this year's event also features an expanded exhibition area that will give visitors the chance to see the latest industry research, receive legal training, enjoy creative seminars and workshops, and take advantage of the great networking opportunities provided.

Attendees will also have another chance to see the PPA100 exhibition, encompassing the ten shortlisted entries for the PPA’s Cover of the Century, and a timeline of magazines and the PPA.
