Simon Horne appointed CFO at HMI

Simon Horne has been appointed chief financial officer, general manager and senior vice president of Hearst Magazines International (HMI) it was announced today by Duncan Edwards, HMI’s president and CEO.

For the last 10 years, Horne (pictured) has filled the role of CFO and GM at The National Magazine Company (NatMag), a Hearst subsidiary in Great Britain.  In this new position, he will take responsibility for all financial and administrative aspects of Hearst’s international magazine business and will work with Edwards on strategy and business development.  Horne will be based in London.

Commenting on the appointment, Edwards said, “Simon is an outstanding CFO and an experienced general manager in the international media business. I am delighted that we are able to draw from our own strong pool of talent for this important role as we anticipate the acquisition and integration of new businesses.”

Horne joined NatMag in 2000 as group finance director and was promoted to GM and finance director of the company in 2004. In that role, he worked with the CEO to manage an aggressive growth strategy, complete numerous acquisitions, create two joint ventures and program new product development and launches.

Previously, Horne worked for Harcourt Publishers International from 1997 to 2000 as SVP, chief finance officer and finance director. Prior to that, he served as VP, international controller at Times Mirror International Publishers.

Horne will commence his new responsibilities effective immediately and will continue to act as CFO and GM of NatMag until a new appointment is made.
