Skoda claims a double in car ownership survey

Britain’s best cars have been named – and it’s Skoda who is celebrating after landing the top two awards in the car ownership survey, Auto Express’s Driver Power.

The Czech brand broke new ground by being named Best Manufacturer for the third year in a row, while its Superb was crowned top car in the Driver Power Top 100 chart. Rounding off a fantastic year, the Skoda Yeti was voted second and the Skoda Octavia fourth.

British models made their mark, too, with both Jaguar and Vauxhall faring well. The Jaguar XF, which took top spot in 2009, came third this year, while the Vauxhall Insignia was a new entry in sixth position. The Sunderland-built Nissan Qashqai was fifth.

Graham Hope, Acting Editor of Auto Express said: “With over 23,000 people taking part in this year’s survey, Driver Power has again delivered the authoritative verdict on which cars are the best in Britain to own. It’s been another fantastic year for Skoda, and its success is thoroughly deserved. The Superb is a great car and a worthy winner of the Driver Power Top 100, while the brand’s achievement in also being named best manufacturer confirms just how highly regarded it is. When it comes to blending quality with value, few brands do it so well as Skoda.”

Robert Hazelwood, Director of Skoda UK said: “Receiving the Best Manufacturer award in the Auto Express Driver Power Survey for the third consecutive year is fantastic news for Skoda UK. We have a strong dealer network that takes excellent care of its customers and we are delighted to hear that Skoda customers are telling us that they are pleased with the whole brand experience. We believe Skoda offers engineering excellence and exceptional value for money. This is evidenced in the survey, with three of our products finishing in the top four places.”

Driver Power is the annual reader survey of Auto Express. Now in its tenth year, it questions motorists on all aspects of the ownership experience, including reliability, running costs and comfort. The results will be published in full in the May Special Issue of Auto Express, which went on sale on 13 April, while autoexpress.co.uk will be providing analysis of the data.
