South West Wales Media announce two senior editorial appointments

Emma Bryant and Rebecca Davies have been promoted to editor of Carmarthen Journal and Llanelli Star, respectively.

Emma Bryant (pictured on the left) has been promoted to Editor of the Carmarthen Journal. She is currently Production Editor for South West Wales Media.

Emma began her career at the South Wales Evening Post in 1999 as the Classified Office Junior then becoming a trainee journalist moving quickly onto the sub-editors’ desk. In 2010 Emma became Production Editor of the South Wales Evening Post and its sister titles the Carmarthen Journal and Llanelli Star as well as Swansea Life, Business Life and Cowbridge Life magazines.

Emma said: "It is an incredible honour to take over the editorship of the Carmarthen Journal. The editorial and advertising teams are extremely talented and I look forward to providing the communities of Carmarthenshire with even more local news both in print and online.”

Emma replaces Jonathan Roberts who became Editor of the South Wales Evening Post in March. She will start her new role on 5 August 2013.

Rebecca Davies (pictured on the right)has been promoted to Editor of the Llanelli Star. Rebecca is currently News Editor in Swansea. Her career began 17 years ago as a Trainee Reporter at the South Wales Evening Post then taking up roles of District Reporter, Senior and Chief Reporter, before heading up the news desk in Swansea.

Rebecca said: "The Star is already at the heart of Llanelli town centre and its surrounding areas. These are exciting times and with a fantastic editorial and advertising team around me, I am looking forward to building on its success as Editor.”

Rebecca replaces Bede MacGowan who left to become Editor of the Mid-Somerset Series. Rebecca will take up her new role with immediate effect.
