Sue James expands her editorial role at IPC

Sue James, editorial director of woman&home and Essentials, is expanding her responsibilities at IPC Media to include Woman, the market leading women’s lifestyle magazine.

Working alongside Woman editor Karen Livermore, and building on her leadership of Woman’s redevelopment work unveiled last month, Sue’s new role overseeing Woman will draw on her 25 years’ experience and exceptional expertise in the 40-plus market.

In her new position, effective immediately, Sue (pictured) retains day-to-day editorial responsibility for woman&home, the stylish monthly for 40-plus women, its website, www.womanandhome.com, as well as the building of its many successful brand extensions and events. Sue will also continue to provide support and guidance to Essentials, edited by Jules Barton-Breck.

According to IPC, both woman&home and Essentials are enjoying enviable success.  Woman&home is one of the UK’s most successful brands, and has just delivered its highest circulation in 15 years. And Essentials has been the fastest growing women’s magazine for four consecutive ABC periods.

Sylvia Auton, IPC Media chief executive, says: “This expansion of Sue’s role is a well-deserved promotion and recognition of her talent. Sue has an unparalleled understanding of the 40-plus audience, delivering great successes for woman&home and Essentials, and now she will be bringing that expertise and talent to Woman.”

Sue adds: “I’m passionate about continuing to drive woman&home and its successful brand extensions and am now delighted to have the opportunity to continue to work with Karen on Woman, as well as of course the Essentials team. I feel it’s absolutely the right time to capitalise further on the opportunities presented by the dynamic 40-plus audience.“

Woman, IPC Connect’s market-leading women’s lifestyle magazine, relaunched on May 10 to exploit what it saw as a gap in the market for a more positive and aspirational weekly magazine.
