The technology will be open-sourced and companies such as Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and other Digital News Initiatives have also already signed on as partners.
The initiative, which was announced yesterday, is a way to load stories from The Telegraph, and other sites, more quickly on phones and tablets.
The Telegraph product and technology team has been involved in developing this tool with Google. It should dramatically improve the performance of the open mobile web, giving readers an improved service, no matter what mobile device they are using, says The Telegraph.
Malcolm Coles, Director of Digital Media, TMG, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Google on the launch of AMP. It will improve The Telegraph reader’s experience and enhance our mobile pages which are rich with award-winning content.”
Alex Watson, Head of Product, TMG said: “Providing users faster ways to access the Telegraph has been one of the technology team's priorities this year, and it's been a fascinating for us to work with Google and see AMP develop. It promises to be really transformative when it launches.”
Dave Besbris, VP Engineering, Google Search, said: “Speed has always been a cornerstone of Google Search and we're thrilled to be working alongside others in the tech industry and publishers around the world to bring the Accelerated Mobile Pages Project to life. An open content ecosystem will give publishers maximum reach and allow users to get the best content no matter which app they are using. AMP HTML will make it all blazing fast, so we can't wait to use it!"
