Telegraph launches Flipboard campaign with Halifax

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has partnered with Halifax to create the first UK campaign on Flipboard.

TMG says it will be the first UK publisher to carry a Flipboard advertising campaign, promoting Halifax’s “extra value” products

As the first of its kind in the UK, the deal, brokered by MEC, shows TMG’s commitment to innovative and pioneering opportunities for clients whilst generating new revenues through its extended mobile and tablet proposition, says the publisher.

The partnership, which launched this month, sees a combination of credit card, mortgage and current account full page advertisements running across iPad, iPhone and Android

Flipboard is the world’s first social magazine and is designed so that readers can easily flip through news relevant to them. The paginated Telegraph content on Flipboard creates a new opportunity for full-page, predictable brand advertising. Flipboard also lets brands engage new audiences in new places while on mobile devices.

Ryan Rummery, Head of Online Sales, TMG, said, “We are excited to have partnered with Halifax and MEC, launching the UK’s first Flipboard campaign. This demonstrates The Telegraph’s continued commitment in providing innovative and socially engaging advertising solutions for our clients.”

Tim Male, Head of Marketing Communications, Halifax, said: “We are continually looking for opportunities to challenge the market and innovate within our media activity. This partnership with The Telegraph & Flipboard is an ideal way to illustrate the strength of our Extra Value For You portfolio and reach a highly engaged audience.”

Mark Stubbs, Manager, Display, MEC, said: “Connected devices are changing the way consumers view content. Applications like Flipboard are redefining the way we view quality editorial, and we will continue to work with publishers like the Telegraph to make sure our campaigns are front of mind with our audience and standout across all platforms.”

Christine Cook, Head of Advertising Partnerships, Flipboard, said: “We’re developing a model that allows publishers to expand their reach and create a new channel for advertisers to engage readers on mobile devices. It’s been great to work with TMG to bring this approach to the UK. I congratulate them on the first brand ads from Halifax in their section on Flipboard.”
