Zanny Minton Beddoes, editor-in-chief of The Economist, said: “It is a wonderful location in central London, coincidentally just steps from where The Economist's first offices were in 1843. It will give us more space for our digital ambitions and the needs of a 21st century media company. We are looking forward to embarking on a new chapter in our history.”
The newspaper expects to take up residence in the summer of 2017, at which time it will leave the Economist Complex. The complex was sold to Tishman Speyer in February this year to part-fund The Economist Group’s share buyback from Pearson plc.
