Piers North: “While The National was an early and great example of publishers collaborating to enhance their offering to advertisers, we found that it was no longer fit for purpose following recent changes in the publishing landscape.”

Following the Evening Standard’s move to a weekly print format earlier this autumn, it has been announced that the cross-industry print package “The National” - which had included regional and national titles from a number of publishers including Reach, ESI, Newsquest and National World - will be closed as of 31st October.

The package, which has run since 2012, was managed on behalf of the news publishers by Reach Solutions.

The news follows the announcement earlier this year that Reach would represent National World’s titles as part of its Big Reach and Big City packages, in addition to titles from DC Thomson.

Piers North, Reach chief revenue officer said: “While The National was an early and great example of publishers collaborating to enhance their offering to advertisers, we found that it was no longer fit for purpose following recent changes in the publishing landscape.

“However, along with our targeted digital solutions, we’re proud to continue to offer our popular print packages, including Big Reach and Big City, as the best way for advertisers to reach communities across the UK.”
