Continuing their campaign of reinvestment into their bindery, Warners Midlands have announced they have added another palletiser to boost efficiencies.

Warners Midlands take delivery of second bindery upgrade this year
Michael Warner: “We are very comfortable with the equipment now and the install went very smoothly.”

Warners Midlands have announced that the end of September saw the delivery of a second Solema Mini Pluton Palletiser valued at over €250,000 to Warner's site in Bourne, Lincolnshire. The machine is already up and running giving a welcome boost to the bindery, added the company. Currently, Warner says its finishing department offers customers in-house Perfect, PUR and Saddle-stitch binding.

Warners says as part of a strategy to upgrade its bindery, it has added two palletisers and a stacker to its stitching lines this year. The inspiration for this reinvestment has been the increased variety of work and customers that Warners work with, the company continued.

“Flexibility and versatility are absolutely key for us” said Michael Warner marketing director. “We have a wide and varied customer base of publishers of all sizes as well as many in the commercial and direct mail sectors. We deal with hundreds of jobs each month, ranging in run length from one thousand copies to one million, and it is vital that each customer's delivery requirements are met in the most efficient way.”

Currently, Warners operates three 32pp web presses and a 10-unit perfecting sheetfed with cutstar. The upgrades to the bindery help the department keep up with the press room, and Warners says it can run more lines concurrently whilst managing complex packaging requirements for its customers. The Palletiser adds a further level of automation, allowing Warners to stitch, trim and stack up to 15 bundles of magazines on a pallet per minute.

Michael Warner continued: “We are very comfortable with the equipment now and the install went very smoothly. We can now pass on the main benefits for our customers which are greater flexibility to meet delivery times and improved capacity in busier times.”
