Winner of Condé Nast International Hackathon announced

The debut Condé Nast International Hackathon took place this weekend, the 22nd and 23rd of November, at the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design in London.

Condé Nast technology professionals from across the globe worked with eleven teams of external developers, designers and business professionals, who had 24 hours to hack a solution in response to one of a number of challenges faced by the media world today.

The winning team was F’Nito, who explored the area of creative story telling, producing a concept to enhance mobile content consumption. This enables the user to listen to an article, with audio picking up where the text leaves off, so the user can switch content formats to accompany them through the day.

F’Nito team members were Gareth Cole, Tom Barnes, Alexis Cuddyre, and Lauren Smith, and they were working with Andy Barefoot of Condé Nast Germany. F’Nito now has the opportunity to be mentored by Condé Nast International technology experts in London, where their idea will be incubated from prototype to final product. The winning team will also receive tickets to WIRED2015 in London.

The judges commented “F’Nito gives a complete reading experience on the go, enhancing magazine consumption, simple and brilliant.”

The runners up were Qurate and Sentimental Editor who were working with members of Condé Nast from France and Spain.

The Condé Nast International judges were Shazad Awan, Chief Technology Officer-E-Commerce; Franck Zayan, President of E-Commerce; Giuseppe Serrecchia, Chief Technology Officer of Condé Nast Italy; Wil Harris, Head of Digital at Condé Nast Britain; Sarah Herz, Head of Digital at Condé Nast France; Malcolm Simms, Chief Technology Officer; and Thomas Bucaille, Director of Talent.

The Condé Nast International Hackathon was created in association with AngelHack, the world’s largest start-up eco-system and leading developer relations platform.
