Woman’s Weekly to launch 3 new magazines

Woman’s Weekly, the magazine that celebrates the home, family and lives of UK women, is launching three new monthly magazines to the newsstand: Craft; Knitting & Crochet; and Classics.

Sandy Gale, publishing director, Woman’s Weekly says: “The new launches build on Woman’s Weekly’s existing monthly special series, which include the Home series and Fiction specials, and are designed to expand the core pillars of the brand, offering our loyal readers more of the content we know they love.”

Priced at £4.95, Knitting & Crochet from Woman’s Weekly will be the first monthly magazine dedicated entirely to knitting from the brand. Each issue of the series will feature patterns that have been triple-tested for reliability and ‘how-to’ content commissioned exclusively for Woman’s Weekly by leading designers and technical experts, say the publishers. The 76-page title will contain patterns for all abilities, including clothing and accessories for all the family, children’s toys, homeware, novelty and seasonal items.

Craft from Woman’s Weekly is the brand’s first monthly foray into craft. Also priced at £4.95, the title is packed full of ideas and makes - each with step-by-step instructions - from the Woman’s Weekly team as well as some of the best known craft experts in the country. The series will inspire readers to try new techniques and develop their skills, whether they have just started making things or are seasoned crafters.

Classics from Woman’s Weekly is a unique series that draws from the brand’s 102-year archive. The launch has been motivated by the popularity of the extracts of classic Woman’s Weekly material that was republished during its centenary year. Ten issues will be published in 2014, eight will be 76 pages priced at £4.95 and two will be bigger 100-page, specially themed issues priced at £9.95. The content draws on Woman’s Weekly archives to form a collectable history of women’s lives through the 20th Century.

Diane Kenwood, editor, Woman’s Weekly, adds: “The enormous growth of interest in knitting, crochet and craft over the last few years has seen a surge in the popularity of what has always been pillar content for Woman’s Weekly, so we thought it was time we offered our readers these high quality, standalone monthly titles. Every one of our knitting patterns, craft ideas and makes have been thoroughly tested by our expert team to ensure they work, so readers can depend on Woman’s Weekly’s heritage of reliability. I’m confident readers of Woman’s Weekly as well as other keen knitters and crafters will love these new titles.”

Craft from Woman’s Weekly and Knitting & Crochet from Woman’s Weekly launch on 31 December, priced at £4.95. Classics from Woman’s Weekly launches in February and is priced at either £4.95 or £9.95.
